Legal terms

Terms that apply to your course purchase

These terms are written to be clear and fair. If anything is unclear, contact us before purchasing at team@teflproacademy.com.

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to your purchase and use of TEFLProAcademy courses, certificates, website services, and related digital materials.

By purchasing a course, creating an account, accessing the course platform, or using our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not purchase or access the course.

In these terms, “TEFLProAcademy”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to TEFLProAcademy. “Student”, “learner”, “you”, and “your” refer to the person purchasing or accessing the course.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable consumer rights.

2. Course description and access

2.1 Course type

TEFLProAcademy provides a self-paced online 120-hour TEFL course. The course is designed as an affordable introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language and is suitable for learners seeking entry-level TEFL knowledge.

2.2 Course delivery

The course is delivered online through a learning management system. Course materials may include written lessons, quizzes, assessments, practical guidance, limited video material, and other digital learning resources.

2.3 Course access period

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, students receive 12 months of access from the date of enrollment or account activation.

2.4 Course completion period

The course may be completed within the access period at your own pace. The course can be completed quickly by students who study intensively, but students are responsible for managing their own time and progress.

2.5 Access extensions

If you need more time after your standard 12-month access period expires, you may request an extension. Extensions are available at $15 for an additional 6 months, subject to platform availability and account verification.

Access item Period Fee
Standard course access 12 months Included in course purchase
Extension Additional 6 months $15

3. Digital content and immediate access

Our courses are digital products supplied online. When you purchase a course, access to digital content may begin shortly after payment and account creation.

If you are a consumer in the UK, EU, EEA, or another jurisdiction with a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal period, you may have legal cancellation rights. However, where permitted by law, those rights may be affected once digital content is supplied or accessed with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that immediate access may affect your right to cancel.

During checkout, account creation, or first access, we may ask you to confirm that you want immediate access to the digital course content and that you understand this may affect your right to cancel under applicable digital content rules.

UK/EU digital-content rules commonly distinguish between unused digital content and digital content that has already begun with the consumer’s express consent and acknowledgement. We do not seek to remove any statutory rights that cannot legally be removed.

4. Refunds and cancellation

4.1 Goodwill refund policy

In addition to any statutory rights you may have, TEFLProAcademy offers a goodwill refund period of 14 days from purchase, provided that you have not accessed or progressed beyond Unit 4 of the course.

This policy is intended to allow genuine students to review the early part of the course while protecting the value of the full digital course. Once you access Unit 5 or later, you will normally no longer be eligible for a goodwill refund because a substantial part of the digital learning material has been made available and used.

4.2 Statutory rights

Our goodwill refund policy does not replace, restrict, or remove statutory rights that apply to you under consumer law. If applicable law gives you rights that are more favourable than this policy, those rights will apply.

4.3 When refunds will normally not be given

Subject to your statutory rights, refunds will normally not be given where:

  • you have accessed Unit 5 or later;
  • you have completed the course or downloaded a certificate;
  • you changed your mind after using a significant part of the course;
  • you failed to check employer, visa, apostille, or platform requirements before purchasing;
  • you expected tutor support, assignment marking, job placement, or observed teaching practice, which are not included;
  • you did not complete the course within the access period;
  • your access expired and you chose not to purchase an extension;
  • you breached these Terms & Conditions.

4.4 How to request a refund

To request a refund, email team@teflproacademy.com with your full name, enrollment email address, purchase date, and reason for the request. We may verify your course progress before approving a refund.

4.5 Payment processing

Approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method where possible. Processing times may vary depending on the payment processor, card provider, bank, or payment platform.

Suggested checkout wording: “I request immediate access to the digital course content and acknowledge that, once digital content begins, my statutory cancellation rights may be affected where permitted by law.”

5. Learning management system, access, and downtime

5.1 Offsite LMS

Students access the course through an offsite learning management system, which TEFLProAcademy pays to use. This allows us to provide structured online learning at a low price.

5.2 Technical availability

We aim to provide reliable course access. However, no online platform can guarantee uninterrupted access. Temporary downtime may occur due to maintenance, hosting issues, software updates, third-party platform problems, security issues, internet routing problems, or other technical causes outside our immediate control.

5.3 Our responsibility during downtime

If you experience a technical access issue, you should contact us at team@teflproacademy.com. We will investigate and take reasonable steps to restore access, resolve the problem, or work with the LMS provider to fix the issue.

5.4 Refunds for downtime

Short, temporary, or intermittent downtime will not normally entitle you to a refund, especially where access is restored within a reasonable time and your overall ability to complete the course during the access period has not been materially affected.

If a serious technical failure prevents access for an extended period and we are unable to provide a reasonable remedy, we will consider an appropriate solution. Depending on the circumstances, this may include an access extension, alternative access arrangement, partial refund, or other fair remedy. Nothing in this section limits statutory rights that cannot legally be limited.

5.5 Student technical requirements

You are responsible for having a suitable device, browser, internet connection, and email access. We are not responsible for access problems caused by your device, browser settings, internet provider, workplace firewall, forgotten login details, or failure to follow reasonable technical instructions.

6. Completion and certificates

6.1 Certificate issue

A TEFLProAcademy certificate is issued after you successfully complete the required course content and pass the required assessments.

6.2 Digital certificate

The standard certificate is provided digitally. You are responsible for downloading, saving, and storing your certificate after completion.

6.3 Certificate details

You are responsible for ensuring that the name and account details you provide are accurate. If you require a correction due to your own spelling mistake or incorrect information, we may ask for verification before reissuing the certificate.

6.4 Certificate verification

Certificates may include a certificate number or other verification details. Employers may contact us at team@teflproacademy.com for verification assistance.

6.5 Misuse of certificates

Certificates must not be edited, falsified, sold, transferred, or misrepresented. We reserve the right to revoke or refuse verification of a certificate where fraud, impersonation, plagiarism, chargeback abuse, misuse, or serious breach of these terms is reasonably suspected or confirmed.

7. Apostille, notarisation, and document legalisation

TEFLProAcademy does not guarantee that any certificate will be accepted for apostille, notarisation, embassy legalisation, visa processing, work permits, immigration, or government documentation purposes.

We understand that some students may use TEFL certificates for overseas work applications, including in countries such as South Korea, China, and others. Previous students may have reported success with apostille or document-use processes, and we are not currently aware of past failures reported to us for common overseas TEFL destinations. However, past success does not guarantee future acceptance.

Apostille and legalisation requirements can change and may depend on the country, employer, notary, solicitor, government department, document format, certificate wording, issuing details, or personal circumstances of the applicant.

You must check apostille, notarisation, visa, and employer requirements before purchasing if certificate legalisation is essential for your plans.

8. Jobs, employers, platforms, and recognition

8.1 No job guarantee

TEFLProAcademy does not guarantee employment, interviews, job placement, income, visa approval, work permits, platform approval, or acceptance by any specific school, recruiter, employer, government body, or online teaching platform.

8.2 Online teaching platforms

Our certificate is intended to be suitable for online teaching applications, and online platforms should generally recognise a 120-hour TEFL certificate of this type. However, each platform sets its own policies, and those policies may change without notice. For this reason, no guarantee can be given that every online teaching platform will accept your certificate in every case.

8.3 Overseas teaching

Our course may be suitable for many entry-level TEFL opportunities abroad, including some roles in Asia, South America, and other regions. However, requirements differ by country and employer. Some roles may require a degree, passport from a particular country, teaching licence, classroom experience, criminal background check, apostilled documents, regulated qualification, CELTA, Level 5 TEFL, observed teaching practice, or other requirements.

8.4 Student responsibility

If you are buying the course for a specific employer, visa, country, recruitment agency, or online teaching platform, you are responsible for checking their current requirements before purchasing.

9. Support

9.1 Technical support

We provide technical support by email. Technical support includes help with login issues, account access, payment access problems, course access errors, certificate download issues, and platform-related technical problems.

9.2 Response time

We aim to respond to support emails within 24 hours. Response times may be longer during weekends, public holidays, unusually busy periods, platform outages, or circumstances outside our control.

9.3 Tutor support not included

The course does not include tutor support, personalised academic coaching, assignment marking, observed teaching practice, live lessons, lesson-plan correction, CV support, job coaching, or individual feedback on teaching performance.

The course is automated, self-paced, and designed to be self-explanatory. This helps us keep the price low. At the current budget price point, tutor support would not be commercially possible.

9.4 Contact email

For technical support, contact team@teflproacademy.com.

10. Student conduct and account rules

Students must use the course honestly and lawfully. You agree not to:

  • share, sell, transfer, or give access to your account to another person;
  • copy, reproduce, scrape, resell, publish, or distribute course content without permission;
  • attempt to bypass course controls, assessments, payment systems, or certificate rules;
  • submit false details or impersonate another person;
  • use abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or unlawful language when contacting staff;
  • misrepresent your certificate, course completion, or relationship with TEFLProAcademy;
  • make fraudulent payment claims, chargebacks, or refund requests.

If we reasonably believe that you have breached these rules, we may suspend or close your account, refuse certificate issue or verification, investigate the issue, or take other reasonable action. Where appropriate, we may give you an opportunity to respond before final action is taken.

11. Intellectual property

Course materials, website content, written lessons, quizzes, assessment materials, designs, branding, graphics, and other materials are owned by or licensed to TEFLProAcademy unless otherwise stated.

Your purchase gives you a personal, limited, non-transferable right to access and use the course for your own study. It does not give you ownership of the course content or the right to copy, sell, reproduce, publish, upload, distribute, or commercially exploit the materials.

12. Accreditation

TEFLProAcademy is accredited by OTCAC, the Online Teaching Course Accreditation Committee. OTCAC is a private, non-governmental accreditor of online courses and course providers.

Accreditation means that our course has been reviewed against the accreditor’s standards. It does not mean that the course is a government qualification, university qualification, CELTA, regulated Level 5 qualification, teaching licence, or guaranteed route to employment or visa approval.

You can learn more about OTCAC at https://otcac.com.

13. Pricing, promotions, and availability

Course prices may change from time to time. Promotional pricing may be temporary and may end without advance notice. The price you pay at checkout is the price applicable to your purchase at that time.

We may offer discounts, promotional campaigns, or different prices through different channels. Unless required by law, we are not required to refund the difference if a lower promotional price becomes available after your purchase.

14. Liability

We aim to provide accurate, useful, and professionally prepared TEFL course materials. However, the course is provided as educational training and general TEFL preparation. It is not legal, immigration, employment, visa, apostille, or professional career advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by:

  • your failure to check employer, visa, apostille, or platform requirements;
  • rejection by an employer, platform, recruiter, visa office, notary, or government body;
  • temporary technical issues where we take reasonable steps to resolve them;
  • your device, internet connection, browser, email account, or local technical setup;
  • your failure to complete the course within the access period;
  • use of the course or certificate in a misleading or unlawful way;
  • events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

15. Changes to these Terms & Conditions

We may update or amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our course, platform, pricing, business practices, legal requirements, or accreditation requirements.

The terms in force at the time of your purchase will normally apply to that purchase. If we update our terms after you purchase, the updated terms will not normally reduce the core rights, access period, or course benefits that applied to your original purchase unless the change is required by law, necessary for security, or clearly beneficial to students.

Continued use of our website or services after updated terms are published may be treated as acceptance of the updated terms for future use or future purchases.

In simple terms: we may update the terms, but we do not intend to rewrite your original purchase unfairly after you have already bought the course.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are intended to operate fairly for students in different countries. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at team@teflproacademy.com so we can try to resolve it informally.

Where applicable, these terms do not remove consumer protections that apply in your country of residence and cannot legally be excluded by contract.

If you want a specific governing-law clause, insert it here after confirming the legal entity, business location, and jurisdiction you want to use.

Drafting note: Replace this section with your chosen governing law and business entity details after legal review.
